Computing

Our Vision for Computing

A high-quality computing education equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. Through linking computing with other subjects such as mathematics, science, writing and design we aim to deliver an excellent curriculum that fosters a real love for computing.

Through engaging activities using the Purple Mash programme teachers deliver lessons that aim to teach pupils the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work and how to then use this knowledge through programming.

High standards of literacy are encouraged within computing to help children become digitally literate, so that they are able to use and express themselves through information technology.

Purpose of Study

We follow the Purple Mash planning to ensure that we get coverage from across the milestones, although the teachers plan the units of work around whatever topic the class are studying. This may range from programming a game linked to Kenya to building a class blog about online safety.  Online safety is embedded across every computing unit.
